Martha Breunig

Martha Breunig manages YWCA USA’s Online Resource Library, with its 700+ guides and presentations designed to inform and strengthen YWCA leadership and management. In addition, for planning and grant initiatives, she manages YWCA USA’s national information bank which includes profiles of YWCAs’ operations, programs, service population demographics and evidence-based impacts. Martha joined YWCA USA in 2013 after 17 years as a local association executive, followed by 10 years as administrative consultant for the YWCA New England Council, National Association of YWCA Executives, and YWCA Metro Association, and four years providing communications services for the national YWCA Steps to Absolute Change initiative.

Martha’s career empowering women and girls and advancing racial justice started in 1975 as Maine’s Girls Club director. In 1981 she was appointed as YWCA Central Maine’s executive director where her leadership resulted in doubling the organization’s assets and a fourfold growth of program offerings and participation. Martha has served as president of the Maine Association of Nonprofits and of the Maine Women’s Fund. Her education includes a B.A. degree from Carroll College and significant masters level work including Harvard Business School’s selective admission executive course, “Strategic Perspectives for Non-Profits.”
