YWCA Statement on Holtzclaw Sentencing

YWCA USA commends Judge Timothy Henderson’s sentence of 263 years for former Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw, following his conviction on 18 counts of sexual assault. Accountability for perpetrators of sexual assault and police violence is a crucial step in eradicating these crimes. Too often, abusers with power escape consequences for their actions. But today, justice was served for the victims of these heinous crimes. Oklahoma City can now serve as an example of how to stop violence against women and communities of color.
