YWCA USA Comment on Secretary Price Confirmation

YWCA USA is disappointed that the Senate has confirmed Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services, despite his troubling voting record on issues that impact the very people he is tasked with championing in his new role. Secretary Price voted against the Violence Against Women Act in 2013 and has consistently led efforts in Congress to limit access to reproductive healthcare. In addition, he has repeatedly promoted tax cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and other important programs that address poverty and hunger. He is also an outspoken opponent of the Affordable Care Act and voted to repeal this critical legislation on multiple occasions.

YWCA USA will continue to fight for the best public policies for women and families, especially marginalized communities who bear the brunt of poor policymaking. We are committed to advancing policies and programs that promote women’s empowerment and the wellbeing of the communities we serve.
