The United States Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released estimates today about the plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The CBO estimates that 14 million fewer people will be insured in 2018 alone, with that number increasing over time.

STATEMENT FROM CASEY HARDEN, YWCA USA INTERIM CEO

“The CBO’s report confirms some of our worst fears about the American Health Care Act. Many of the women and families we serve at YWCAs across the country are at the greatest risk of losing their health insurance as changes to Medicaid expansion programs will likely have a heightened impact on women of color.

“This plan would also eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, a healthcare organization that has consistently offered care to women who need it most. YWCA USA stands with Planned Parenthood.

“The ACA has made health insurance accessible for millions of women, we cannot roll back the clock for these women and their families. YWCA USA calls on the House Budget Committee and all members of the House of Representatives to oppose the American Health Care Act. Any congressional action to change the ACA must protect and preserve the advances made for women and families.”
